Powers and abilities
- Superhuman Physical Characteristics
- Acrobatics (Can jump incredible distances, perform rapid dashes off the ground and in the air, and preform flips to dodge attacks. Can perform an "air recovery" to recover from knockback. Despite wearing heavy armor, Edelgard can perform a standing backflip)
- Enhanced Senses (Can fight in fog so dense that it's difficult to even see one's own hand in front of their face)
- Non-Physical Interaction (Capable of harming illusions)
- Accelerated Development (Training/Battle/Leveling; Physical Statistics, Magic, Skill, Luck, Magic Resistance, Charm. The Experience Gem, and Knowledge Gem increases the amount of experience earned, and skill experience earned respectively. The skill Imperial Lineage increases experience gain)
- Weapon Mastery, Martial Arts and Marksmanship (Although she has a proficiency in swords and an hidden talent for magic, Edelgard stated that an axe has always felt most natural in her hand. Due to being taught by Byleth Eisner, Edelgard is capable of becoming skilled in other weapons, such as Lances/Javelins, Tomes, and even Bows, which she has incompetency in. She is capable of learning the skill Unarmed Combat from the War Cleric class, which allows units to fight without a weapon)
- Vector Manipulation (Can redirect midair arrows to hit their opponents)
- Danmaku (Can rapidly shoot a large amount of arrows at once)
- Magic, Status Effect Inducement, Durability Negation and Elemental Manipulation (While the damage a unit takes from a physical attack is determined partially by that unit's Defense, the amount of damage taken from a magic attack is determined by resistance so magic can be very effective even if the unit being attacked has high defense. Can use Reason Magic, as well as Light Magic, having a hidden talent in the former and a weakness in the latter. She is one of the few characters that who learn a mix of both Dark and Black Magic. Due to Edelgard’s Unique Action Ability “Solar Prominence”, her attacks are imbued with devastating fire. Hitting an opponent with an elemental attack can inflict them with certain status effects. Magic completely bypasses physical defenses such as armor, or thick hides)
- Fire Manipulation, Magma Manipulation, and Explosion Manipulation (Can unleash fiery shockwaves and tornadoes. Can use Fire Attacks, and Magic, such as Firesweep, Fire and Bolganone , which also inflicts opponents with the Burning status, which sets them on fire, and slowly drains their health)
- Ice Manipulation (Can use Ice Attacks such as Crush, which inflicts opponents with the Frozen status effect, which freezes the opponent, and makes them unable to move or attack)
- Electricity Manipulation (Can use Lightning Attacks, such as Lightning Axe, which inflicts opponents with the Shocked status, which electrocutes the enemy, and causes them to discharge electricity)
- Light Manipulation, Life Manipulation (Life Steal), and Holy Manipulation (Can use Light Attacks, and Magic, such as Lightblade and Seraphim, which can also heal the user upon damaging the opponent)
- Air Manipulation (Can use Wind Attacks such as Stormblade, which inflicts opponents with the Windtorn status, which makes them take heavy damage if launched into the air)
- Darkness Manipulation, and Statistics Reduction (Can use Dark Attacks, and Magic, such as Luna Λ and Dark Lance, which inflicts opponents with the Spellbound status, which makes them move more slowly, have reduced defense and magic resistance, and make it so guarding does not reduce damage taken)
- Healing (Via Healing Magic, such as Heal and Recover. This can heal up to Low-Mid damage, as Healing in Fire Emblem has been shown to be able to heal stab wounds through the torso)
- Restricted Flight (All magic users can levitate off the ground, and move around in such a state)
- Danmaku (Can rapidly cast a bunch of spells at once)
- Limited Telekinesis (All mage users can telekinetically move around small objects such as their tome)
- Black Hole Creation and Magic Resistance Negation (Via the Magic Luna Λ)
- Forcefield Creation (Mages are shown capable of creating forcefields, as shown here and here)
- Limited Power Nullification (Fodder mages are shown capable of dispelling seals)
- Explosion Manipulation (Via Emperor's Ploy, which guarantees ignited enemies will explode when using Armored Lord and Emperor class actions)
- Air Manipulation (Can hit opponents from a distance, even with melee weapons)
- Status Effect Inducement (By depleting an enemy's stun gauge, which is revealed through certain actions such as using effective attacks, magic spells, or combat arts, the enemy is knocked down, and left unable to move for a short period of time. The Combat Art Mortal Struggle makes the stun gauge appear with all attacks)
- Social Influencing (Edelgard has a proficiency in Authority, which dictates a unit's ability to use Battalions, squads of units that can be deployed alongside characters and will assist them in battle. Kinship makes it easier for Edelgard to receive support points in battle. Although Edelgard uses deception and is secretly behind much of the events leading to the war, she does become a rallying figure for those who are legitimately discontent with the Church of Seiros and the current state of society, especially in her homeland of the Adrestian Empire. Edelgard manages to inspire loyalty among her subjects, with even some people from the other nations, like Marianne and Lysithea, admiring her and her convictions, willing to betray their homeland to support the emperor)
- Damage Boost (Via Critical Hits, which deal triple damage to the enemy. Additionally, by performing a "Perfect Dodge" (ie, dodging right before an enemy's attack lands), all of their attacks will become critical for a short period of time. Certain Weapons, Combat Arts and Magic, such as Rapier, Monster Breaker, Seraphim, and Helm Splitter deal effective damage to specific enemies. Additionally, they have access to Combat Arts that possesses the trait “Guard Break”, which break an opponent’s guard. After filling the Warrior Gauge, characters in Three Hopes can eventually perform a Warrior Special, which deals a tremendous amount of damage in a large area)
- Durability Negation (Certain Combat Arts possesses the traits ‘Guard Pierce’, which causes damage even when the opponent is guarding, and ‘Cannot Guard’, which means enemies cannot guard against the strike. Causes enemies that are guarding to nonetheless sustain 80% of calculated damage due to Emperor's Prestige)
- Healing (via Healing Items such as Vulnerary and Elixir. The Combat Art Healing Focus restores half of Edelgard's HP. This can heal up to Low-Mid damage, as Healing in Fire Emblem has been shown to be able to heal stab wounds through the torso)
- Power Mimicry (Can learn different Combat Arts, and Spells just by observing an ally perform them)
- Statistics Amplification, Aura, and Immortality (Type 2) (via Awakening, which envelops the user in a blue aura, strengthens their attacks, makes the enemy's stun gauge appear at all times, and makes their HP unable to reach 0. Additionally, with the skill Miracle, they are able to survive at least one lethal attack)
- Regeneration (Low-Mid. via passive healing skills, and items such as Labraunda, Renewal, and Sword of Seiros. Healing in Fire Emblem has been shown to be able to heal stab wounds through the torso)
- Afterimage Creation (via the Combat Art Astra)
- Death Manipulation (The Combat Art Assassinate, and the skill Lethality grants the user a chance to instantly kill the enemy)
- Poison Manipulation (via Venin weapons such as the Venin Edge. The Weapon Attribute Venom Edge poisons enemies upon hitting them)
- Empowerment, Statistics Amplification and Statistics Reduction (Through various skills and items, can increase their Strength, Magic, Dexterity/Skill, Speed, Movement, Magic Resistance, Defense, Luck, Combat Arts, and Charm, and reduce those same stats for their opponents both conditionally, and passively. The skill Vantage allows the user to always attack first if their HP is ≤ 50%, and restore a small amount of the Warrior, and Awakening Gauges with Perfect Guards. Through Aymr, Edelgard is capable of restoring the Warrior and Awakening Gauges when an enemy commander is defeated. As a Axe user, they are strong against Lance users but weak against Sword users)
- Probability Manipulation (Though skills and items such as the Evasion Ring, Accuracy Ring, and the Critical Ring, can increase their Avoid Rate, Hit Rate, and Critical Hit Chance both conditionally, and passively)
- Supernatural Luck (Through skills and items such as the Goddess Ring, can increase their luck, which increases their Avoid Rate, Hit Rate, and lowers the risk of enemies activating Critical Hits both conditionally, and passively)
- Immortality (Type 4. Due to having the Crest of Flames, they possess the blood of Sothis, which can revive people, as shown with Nemesis, albeit in an unknown timeframe)
- Attack Negation (via the skills Pavise, and Aegis, which have a chance at nullifying damage from melee, and ranged attacks. The Crest of Flames can occasionally prevent an opponent from counterattacking)
Weaknesses
BaseHegemon Husk Using Combat Arts, and Magic Spells uses up more weapon durability. There is a difference between basic magic attacks, and magic spells. Basic magic attacks do not use up weapon durability, while magic spells do. Due to her two Crests, she has a shortened lifespan. Edelgard is deathly afraid of rats, as they remind her of a past she is uncomfortable with. She also fears the ocean since she cannot swim. Using a Hero's Relic can be taxing on the wielder, wearing away at their soul, and a result of over-usage, can risk the chance of the user transforming into a Demonic Beast. Though, the latter typically only happens after an entire lifetime of usage, or if the user doesn't have a Crest, or to a much lesser extent, an incompatible Crest. Same as Base, Though slight, there is a chance that once she transformed, she may never be able to undo it. She is unwilling to initiate combat with Byleth Eisner unless they are the one to do so first or is the only target within range. Highly implied that she will not be able to have full control over herself and may likely attack her allies if they stay near her. One can divert a monster-unit’s attention if they utilizes a damaging attack (I.e, gambits), which will cause them to prioritize that person and attempts to unleash their Staggering Blow. Once a monster's attention is diverted, further attacking it normally won't change its target. However, using another damage attack does switch its focus to this new person.
Ranked tied for #9 of 160 in Fire Emblem by strength.
